MOUNT DESERT — The town will save nearly $45,000 on this summer’s dredging of the fire pond next to Route 3 in Otter Creek and the associated replacement of a section of sidewalk and curbing.
Voters at town meeting last month authorized $155,000 in bond funding for the project, but it will cost only $110,300. That was the low bid submitted by R.F. Jordan & Sons of Ellsworth.
The next lowest bid was $162,850. The highest bid, from John W. Goodwin Jr., was $331,470.
